Fashion + Decor | Orange Crush | Home Decor

Happy Sunday all! I love fall, the season of change, -and less humidity here in South Florida – Halleluiah!  This weekend I’ve been re-organizing and cleaning  up my Pinterest boards, yes making  them pretty for all the new products and images that are calling my name :)  [hint, hint.]  Anyway, as I was changing and deleting I came across this gorgeous beaded dress by Jenny Packham, Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Don’t you think? Well, if you may remember, a while back I started blogging about how your fashion style is a great starting point when decorating your home.  Decorating with your favorite fashion style, it makes your space that much more personal. Select your favorite piece of clothing from your closet, choose three colors from it, and if it’s a solid like in this dress, add your choice of accessories to the mix for a more dynamic look. To help in making the selection easier, use a design “mood board” to visualize the look before you buy. Easy peasy!

For inspirational rooms with the color “orange” “tangerine tango” and “orange spice” click here, and here.

I was inspired by the simple style in this solid bold orange dress the beads, the model’s hair style and color.

Pantone Color Of The Year | Tangerine Tango

“Tangerine Tango”

Pantone Color 2012 of the Year

Earlier this week Pantone announced “Tangerine Tango as Color Of The Year for 2012. I love this color! It’s sophisticated with a flirty edge to it, hence the “Tango” name.  “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. Did I say I love this color? !!!

Blues and greens are great colors that compliment tangerine tango, they also cool down the intensity of deep vivid oranges.

Nice outdoor space right? The color in this space has blues and reds, but you can substitute red with tangerine and it would just be stunning! Don’t you think?

This bold color is great for interior spaces that need that boost of energy, especially those rooms that don’t receive direct sunlight.  Simple ways to add high impact with low cost results is always with paint like in these photos:

Brown and beige are warm colors which intensify the oranges.  To cool down use whites and grays like in this room.

Do you like oranges? Would you use them in your home decor?

Tropical Summer Sherbet in Orange Shells

Here’s a simple and creative way to serve your dessert.  Use orange shells and hollow them out for presentation.  Fill them with orange sherbet, top with toasted coconut and garnish with a mint.  That’s it.

A great treat for the last of summer days! … Enjoy!

Here is what you will need:

1)  Sweetened flaked coconut

2)  Oranges

3)  Sherbet

4)  Mint sprigs

TROPICAL SUMMER SHERBET IN ORANGE SHELLS

1/2 cup flaked coconut

6 fresh orange halves from 3 oranges

1 quart orange sherbet

Fresh mint sprigs

1)  Place coconut in a small, dry skillet over medium-high heat.  Cook and stir until coconut is brown and toasted, watching careful to avoid burning – it toasts quickly!  Let cool.

2)  Scoop out pulp from orange halves completely to make shells.

3)  Using an ice cream scoop, scrape sherbet into balls to fit into each orange shell.

4)  Sprinkle sherbet with toasted coconut.  Place mint sprigs around oranges for garnish.  Serve immediately.  Serves 6.
