Let’s Get Organized! | #OLIOHOP #2

Happy Mood Board Monday + OlioHop + Blog Hop

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I had a little weekend stay-cay at West Palm Beach.  Great time with family and hugh bunch of old friends.  Re-focused on what matters most. :) It was relaxing . . . but back to reality . . .

Today we are Olio hopping and talking about organization and de-cluttering!!

I you have read my post recently, you might remember that I have started creating mood boards or as I call them decor idea boards. The site I have been using is called Olioboard and I love how easy it is to create mood boards in 2D and 3D effects.  The look is really great because you can actually visualize how all the furniture pieces and other elements will look together.  A lot of Interior Designers as well as design enthusiasts are using this site to create their boards.  If you would like to to try it for yourself, it’s pretty easy, all you have to do is sign up, that’s it!  Hop on over to their site to get started, and while your there check out on the community tab to see amazing boards, also weekly contest.  Join the fun today!

Home Office Decorating Ideas

This board is more of a high-end  look, but the idea is there to play with. The design style I chose for this board is contemporary with mid-century modern.  The sparkle in the chandelier + lamp  enhances glam look, while the curves in the Z Gallerie “Eddie” wing chair give it a feminine touch. Do you like? Let me know how I can help you with your decorating needs.

Here are a some organizing tips to keep your home office

TIDY! TIDY! TIDY! including me “muah”

There are so many options when it comes to basic storage solutions, and now more then ever chic and stylish ones. So let’s get started!

Organize areas by:

  1. Writing / computer desk:  Having adequate space can help you keep your space neat and tidy.  Not every home office is created equal.  Some require ample writing and drawing space.  A good average size desk to start with is 35 to 45 inches wide and 25 inches in depth, enough for computer and stationary.
  2. Storage boxes:  I like to use pretty boxes, this is where you can add a touch of your personality. Tip: To keep the room from looking visually cluttered, use no more than three colors throughout the room.
  3. Desk accessories:  This is where your daily stuff stays in order, incoming mail, notes, pencils + pens, etc.
  4. Bulletin Board:  Here is one of my fav, keep your most important must-do notes at eye level. If it’s starring at you, you probably won’t forget!
  5. Trash/Recycling bin: Daily mail can be daunting!  Sort out mail as it comes in, one less thing to think about when cleaning up at end of day.

I will be posting more about organizing throughout this week on my Facebook page, and Pinterest Board and Olioboard. Join in the convo!!

Here are 16 other talented bloggers that use Olioboard to create their mood boards. Hop on over to check out their post on organizing as well! Click on the links below:

Pantone Color Of The Year | Tangerine Tango

“Tangerine Tango”

Pantone Color 2012 of the Year

Earlier this week Pantone announced “Tangerine Tango as Color Of The Year for 2012. I love this color! It’s sophisticated with a flirty edge to it, hence the “Tango” name.  “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. Did I say I love this color? !!!

Nice outdoor space right? The color in this space has blues and reds, but you can substitute red with tangerine and it would just be stunning! Don’t you think?

This bold color is great for interior spaces that need that boost of energy, especially those rooms that don’t receive direct sunlight.  Simple ways to add high impact with low cost results is always with paint like in these photos:

Brown and beige are warm colors which intensify the oranges.  To cool down use whites and grays like in this room.

Do you like oranges? Would you use them in your home decor?

So what is Pinterest?

Let me introduce… Pinterest is a site that allows you to organize and share digital images that you like (love) one or (thousands) on virtual pinboards. It’s not private, is visible to anyone. And like a social site you can follow people with same likes and interest as you. It’s very addictive so you’re warned. Pinterest is currently invite-only. You can request an invite by going to their site or you can be invited by someone who is already a part of Pinterest (ME) ;) Send me a note and I’ll be happy to send your request.

Thanks for stopping by today and have great one!

Beautiful Closets

I have been thinking about re-doing my closet, it seems it’s never big enough, especially if you’re a fashionista, right? Some builders have a good sense of what a woman’s preference is “Big is never enough” and some, well, they don’t get it!!

I came across these images today while researching for closets design ideas.  These are so fabulous I thought I’d share with you . . .

Fabulous in black “Closet Dressing Room”

Decor tip: use decorative mirrors instead of plain ones for a more designer look.

I love this white closet, elegant but not too fussy, except I would choose a crystal chandelier.  ;)

Now this is a fun space in pink and cream with some sparkle!

Hello space!

What a beautiful white closet with marble floors and plenty of mirrors to check yourself out as you walk out the door!

Decor Tip: When designing your closets, add mirrors. It not only serves a functional purpose, but also adds visual space, making it appear bigger.

This was a fun post, I hope you enjoyed this closet tour.  Check back next week for decor tips.  Happy Saturday!

Decor Ideas | Home Office Update

Hello, I hope you all are having a great day.  At the moment I’m working on several rooms that need an organizational boost and on the top of the list is (yes!) my office, it really needs an update.  This is a small office space so changes will be minimal. My goal is to create a comfortable and visually creative space for me with the emphasis on clutter control (I need mental clarity). Lighting is very important in an office space so, this will be the starting point to my idea decor board. I would like to incorporate one of these working table lamps (pics below) from IKEA.  A lot of work still ahead so, off I go web sourcing for products. I love shopping! I’ll keep you posted on my progress. :)

NYFORS Work Lamp $49.00 Ikea

Barometer Work Lamp Ikea $49.99

TIVED Work Lamp $29.99

I love this office space designed by Courtney Hill Interiors.  The beachy color palette she selected here of blues and ivories are very calming which is perfect for hours of work-time. And the nail-head trim, glass knobs gives this space a touch of elegance.
